    Sakaki has been labelled a “unifying botanical” – its presence in the gins not only adds an herbaceous component to the gin but also acts to enhance the gin’s citrus and spice notes. Wasabi, ginger, bay leaf and ume seed have a marked effect on the flavour and mouthfeel of this gin!

    Sakaki XIX is the second premium product in the Sakaki Craft Gin Range. The Sakaki Craft Gin Range is the first to use sakaki as a botanical. Sakaki imparts a forest like aroma to the gin, which is a perfect representation of the distillery’s home in the mountains of Wakayama, Japan.

    As per the Roman numerals in its name it contains 19 botanicals: All Spice, Bay Leaf, Caraway, Cinnamon, Clove, Coriander Seed, Ginger, Juniper, Lavender, Mikan, Sakaki, Sansho, Star Anise, Sudachi, Ume, Ume Seed, Wasabi, Yoshino Cedar, Yuzu

    The Sakaki Gin range is the the first gin to use sakaki as a botanical. Sakaki is an evergreen tree that plays an important role in Japanese mythology, and it imparts a “foresty” flavour to the gin.

    As Sakaki XV’s name suggests, it contains 15 botanicals including unique Japanese fruits, spices and herbs:
