Asakura Barrel-Aged Shochu hails from the heart of Fukuoka, Japan.
Pure barley shochu is aged in American Oak Barrels for 8 years.
Barrel-aged shochu is the perfect transition for the Japanese whisky connoisseur who longs to venture into the familiar unfamiliar.
Asakura can be considered a hybrid of Speyside x Japanese innovation – the epitome of East meets West.
Nose: Sandalwood, Manuka honey, orange zest, cinnamon.
Palate: Buttery and smooth mouthfeel. Werther’s original toffee, vanilla sponge cake, honeysuckle, subtle satsuma rounded out with light wood and warm spices.
Finish: Superbly balanced with a gentle, soothing finish Â

Barley shochu is aged in a virgin oak barrel for 2 years.
The contents of the barrel are then removed. The shochu seasoned casks are then filled with new barley shochu which will rest in their wooden homes for 8 years.
